"Antero" is Spanish for" first", and the Antero reservoir is the result of the first dam placed on the South Platte River. Owned by Denver Water, it helps supply the capital city with drinking water. It was closed from 2002 to 2007 because of the drought. Now re-filled and re-stocked, it holds a bounty of lunkers, CDOW reports plenty of trout in the 15'-18' size range.
